Last week Rosa María, from La Vida Compartida announced I was among the winners of the Jute Giveaway she hosted at her blog...

I met Rosa María a few months ago, while looking for quilters in Mexico... I was amazed at the beautiful crafts she makes and sells through her etsy store 464 Handmade. She lives in Jalisco (the land of Tequila!!!) and by looking at her great photography you can tell she lives in a quiet, beautiful place surrounded by a pretty garden, with a mexican country look, and she shares her life with Alex and their pets...

This is the Jute I received as gift... I chose the colour Coffee Sack Brown, don't you love the name? There are more colours to chose from...

When I opened the package I also found this Tissue Holder, handmade by her and also sold at her store...

and these Sewn Tags, just in time for Christmas!

cookies inspired by martha stewart

I made 215 of these 3-4 years ago for my friend's son Wedding... As many, in different crafts, I was inspired by Martha Steward. I also was kind of new to COOKIES... they were photographed by another friend and I totally forgot about them.
This month along with a group of friends, I'll work on a project inspired by her, and I remembered these... they look better than my usual pics (which with Glory's fabulous demo will hopefully improve), and even though I see the mini cake a little lopsided and know I would now make a better work, at that time I was really proud of them...

Hace 3-4 años hice estas GALLETAS para la boda del hijo de una amiga... Como muchos otros, me inspiré en Martha Steward. En esa época era algo nueva decorando GALLETAS... las fotografió un amigo, y me olvidé por completo de ellas.


Este mes, junto con un grupo de amigas, voy a trabajar en un proyecto inspirado por ella y me acordé de estas cajitas. La fotografía es mejor que las que usualmente tomo (que gracias a una excelente demostración de la talentosa Glory muy probablemente mejorarán), y aunque al verla ahora veo que el pastelito está un poco chueco, y que seguramente puedo hacer un mejor trabajo, en ese momento me sentí muy orgullosa de ellos...

I made this COOKIE for a lady that turned 30 this week. Her friend told me she is Ursula's fan and loves purple. I had trouble with the eyes, but think they came out OK.

This is one big COOKIE :) 7" x 9 1/2" . I was worried of how it would turn out, but at the end I had fun working on it... It was like suddenly knowing EXACTLY what to do first, and things came out smoothly...

She received 30 gifts, one for each year and this one was number 29... I was later told that the COOKIE was a success and that she loved it! Isn't that what we aim for when we work our hearts on a special COOKIE? :D

Hice esta GALLETA para una persona que cumplió 30 años esta semana. Su amiga me dijo que es fan de Ursula y le encanta el color morado. Los ojos me dieron un poco de problemas pero creo que al final salieron bien.

Esta GALLETA es bastante grande (7" x 9 1/2"). La verdad me preocupaba un poco (o un mucho) cómo iba a hacerla, pero a fin de cuentas me divertí mucho decorándola... fue como de repente saber EXACTAMENTE qué hacer primero, y todo el proceso se fue dando...

La festejada recibió 30 regalos, uno por cada año que cumplió y este fue el número 29... después me enteré que la GALLETA fue un éxito y le encantó! No es eso lo que todas deseamos cuando ponemos todo nuestro empeño y amor en una GALLETA especial? :)

I's B-days always have a theme... I've worked on COOKIES for her family parties and really enjoy doing so. Her mom will call and let me know about the coming party, her idea, and asking what can I do for it... it's such a pleasure to do COOKIES for her, that I could just answer "Whatever you want!" BUT it can be challenging sometimes... This time she came up with a Farm theme, provided the animals clipart and asked for the Sunflowers... I wanted to try bandanas, so I told her about it. I've never done them before, but my friend Callye, The Sweet Adventures of SugarBelle, is a master-bandana-COOKIE-icer... And she perfectly explained me how to ice bandana print COOKIES! She even told me she'll make a tuto for that, so keep an eye on her blog if you want to try bandanas...

Las fiestas de I. siempre tienen un tema... He hecho GALLETAS para las celebraciones de su familia en otras ocasiones y disfruto mucho hacerlo. Su mamá llama y me cuenta acerca de una fiesta qué tendrá, su idea y me pregunta qué puedo hacer... me gusta tanto hacer GALLETAS para ella, que podría contestar "Lo que tu quieras!"... PERO algunas veces se convierte en un verdadero reto... Esta vez eligió el tema de la Granja, me envió las imágenes de los animales y me pidió tambien Girasoles... Yo quería hacer Paliacates, asi que le di la idea. Jamás los había hecho, pero mi amiga Callye, The Sweet Adventures of Sweet SugarBelle, es una experta-decoradora-de-GALLETAS-de-Paliacate... Me explicó perfectamente cómo hacerlas! Hasta me dijo que pronto hará un tuto acerca del tema, asi que si te interesa hacerlos, no dejes de seguir su blog!

Last week I worked on Easter COOKIES for two different Baby Showers... how fun is that?? I love that theme for babies and loved that one was for a girl and the other one for boys... in fact for TRIPLETS!!!

La semana pasada hice GALLETAS para dos distintos Baby Showers cuyo tema fue el mismo: Pascua!! Me encanta ese tema para bebés, y me gustó mucho que uno era para una nena y el otro para niño... de hecho TRILLIZOS!!! Me encantan los colores pastel para bebé... no te parece que los Pollitos estan lindos?

I loved working on these COOKIES!! But then I always do! :D
I don't own a clown cutter, so I used my ice cream cutter and really liked the results... it's supposed to be a girl clown hence the flowers on her hat and lashes... I iced the elephant blue for the fun of using bright colours... and he looks happy I did!!

Como no tengo un cortador con forma de payaso, use mi cortador de helado y me gustó mucho como quedó... se supone que es una payasita, por eso las flores en el gorro y pestañas... decoré el elefante en azul solo por usar colores más vivos que me resultan divertidos... se ve feliz de que lo haya puesto asi!!

As usual, I loved working on this set of COOKIES, the colours and theme are one of my favourites. I received the candy cutter as a gift from my friend Lisa at COOKIE Camp, I wanted it so much, that whenever I use it I remember my dear friend and thank her for it...

I iced the lollies the hard way: first piping a spiral border and filling small sections with different colours. This has to be done fast, so that they blend nicely to the next section, and with the right consistency, in order that they don't mix or flow to the inner or outer spiral... and I love how they look, and the dimension they have!!

I didn't know what colours to use for the ice cream cone, I was thinking copper (flesh), so I asked some of my COOKIE friends and used Buckeye Brown and a speck of Golden Yellow with the copper... I think it is pretty close to the real colour, what do you think?

Como siempre, me encantó este grupo de GALLETAS, los colores y el tema son de mis favoritos! El cortador en forma de dulce, lo recibi como regalo de parte de mi amiga Lisa, del COOKIE Camp, lo había buscado tanto y tenía tantas ganas de trabajar con el, que cada vez que lo uso, me acuerdo de ella y sigo agradeciendo su generosidad...

Decoré las paletas en la forma complicada: primero hice un borde en espiral, y luego fui llenando secciones en los distintos colores, esto debe hacerse rápido para que la superficie se vea lisa, sin que se mezclen los colores por lo que la consistencia es muy importante... me encantó la dimensión que tienen y como se ven!

Para los conos de nieve, tenía dudas sobre qué color usar... pensé en el Copper (Carne), pero no estaba muy segura, asi que pedí ayuda a mis amigas GALLETERAS y usé el Copper pero le puse un poco de Café y una puntita de Amarillo Oro... creo que se acerca mucho al color real, tu que piensas?

Sometimes COOKIES come out just they way you dream about them... the perfect colours, desings, shapes, and details... this set is one of my favourite of all times... I was happy working on it, and loved the COOKIES!!!
