When Haniela invited me to Enchanted COOKIE Garden Party, I had more than one COOKIE in mind... so I made them all! ~ Cuando Haniela me invito a su Fiesta en el Jardín Encantado de GALLETA, tenía más de una GALLETA en mente... así que las hice todas!

Fancy Square Sunflower Garden COOKIE!

Yesterday, I showed you how I made the Quilted Sunflower COOKIE. Today I'll show you how I made the Fancy Square Sunflower Garden COOKIE! ~ Ayer, te mostré cómo hice la GALLETA de Girasol Acolchado. Hoy te voy a mostrar cómo hice GALLETA Fancy Square de Jardín de Girasoles!  

1. Begin with a COOKIE made with Lilaloa's Cutter from Coppergifts. Outline with Sky Blue, make it as soft or bright as you want ~ Empezamos con una GALLETA hecha con el Cortador de Lilaloa de Coppergifts. Delínea con Azul Cielo, hazlo tan claro o intenso como tu quieras.

2. Fill with Sky Blue. Pop any bubbles. Let dry overnight or at least 8 hours ~ Rellena con Azul Cielo. Poncha las burbujitas. Deja secar toda la noche o por lo menos 8 horas

3. Add some Clouds with White and Stems with Juniper Green ~ Agrega unas Nubes en Blanco y unos Tallos con Verde Junípero

 4. Add some Juniper Leaves and Chocolate Brown Dots (the size of a M&M's mini), these will be the Sunflower's center ~ Agrega Hojitas en Verde Junípero y Puntos en Café Chocolate (del tamaño de mini M&M's), estas serán el centro de los Girasoles

5. Eeeeek!!!! Don't panic!! Craters might happen, and might not... COOKIE Physics you know? But we are here for the fun, and we'll work around them... ignore those craters and alternate some Golden Yellow Petals... are you thinking about the craters? Well, don't! ~ Queeeeeee!!!! No te asustes!! Los cráteres pueden aparecer, o no... es parte de la Física GALLETIL, sabes? Pero estamos aquí por la diversión y vamos a trabajar a pesar de ellos... ignora esos cráteres y agrega unos Pétalos Amarillo Dorado, de forma intercalada... estás pensando en esos cráteres? Pues no lo hagas!

6. Continue adding Petals... and ignoring the craters... ~ Continúa agregando Petalos... e ignorando los cráteres...

7. Pipe some swirls to the Clouds, pipe "Sunflowers" or a name, and some swirls to the centers... begin by filling the crater while saying "Hasta la vista, baby!" with your best Schwazzenegger voice. See? Nothing to worry!! ~ Delínea unos remolinos en las Nubes, escribe "Girasoles" o algún nombre, y unos remolinos en los centros... empieza rellenando el cráter y diciéndole "Hasta la vista, baby!" con tu mejor voz de Schwazzenegger. Ves? Nada de qué preocuparte!!

Let's Smell the Flowers! {Sunflowers}

Did you know Sunflowers were first domesticated in Mesoamerica, present day Mexico, by at least 2600BC? Then they were domesticated a second time in the middle of the Mississippi Valley, that's where my friend Lisa, The BearFoot Baker lives!!! ~ Sabías que los Girasoles fueron domesticados en un principio en Mesoamérica, hoy México, cerca de 2600a.C.? Y después fueron domesticados por segunda vez justo en la zona del Valle del Mississippi, que es donde mi amiga Lisa, The BearFoot Baker vive!!!


I love to think they follow the Sun, when apparently they only face East... myths are sometimes fun! ~ Me gusta pensar que siguen al Sol, aunque aparentemente solo miran al Este... los mitos son divertidos algunas veces!

Quilted Sunflower ~ Girasol Acolchado

Let's make the first Sunflower in this set, the Quilted Sunflower! ~ Vamos a hacer el primer Girasol de este juego, el Girasol Acolchado!

1. We need COOKIE made from a Round Scalloped COOKIE Cutter. Outline a center with Chocolate Brown ~ Necesitamos una GALLETA hecha con un  Cortador de GALLETA de Círculo Ondulado. Delínea el centro con Café Chocolate.

2. Outline 2 vertical lines and 3 horizontal lines inside the circle. Outline Golden Yellow petals all around the COOKIE ~ Delínea 2 líneas verticales y 3 líneas horizontales dentro del círculo. Delínea con Amarillo Dorado petalos alrededor de la GALLETA

3. Alternate filling the center to get dimensional look. Let dry until a thin crust forms ~ Intercala el rellenado del centro para que se vea dimensión. Deja secar hasta que se forme una capita dura

4. Fill remaining sections. Let dry. Work with the petals on  the same way: fill alternate sections, let dry, fill. Let dry ~ Rellena los espacios que quedan. Deja secar. Trabaja con pétalos de la misma forma: rellena secciones de forma intercalada, deja secar, rellena. Deja secar

5. Pipe Chocolate Brown dots around the center border, leaving a space between each dot. Let dry. Pipe Juniper Green dots between the Chocolate Brown dots. Let dry overnight or at least 8 hours ~ Agrega puntitos Café Chocolate alrededor del borde del centro, dejando un espacio entre cada puntito. Deja secar. Agrega puntitos Verde Junípero entre los Café Chocolate. Deja secar toda la noche o por lo menos 8 horas.

Royal Icing

After making, rolling, cutting and baking dough we want to beautify our COOKIES.

There are different techniques for after baking decorating, one of these techniques is decorating with Royal Icing. Today I will show you how I make Royal Icing.

I believe each decorator finds the method that best works based on experience and needs. I am sure YOU have a better way, or will have one once you start playing with COOKIES!

Whisk dry ingredients together ~ Mezcla los ingredientes secos

Like many COOKIE Decorators, I started using Antonia74's recipe for Royal Icing from CakeCentral. I've never had problems with sweet food, but I found out that by adding citrus flavoring and juice, I cut the sweetness. I love the tangy flavor combined with the orangey of my COOKIE Dough. You can play and experiment with the flavors you like.

I don't follow Antonia's instructions, though. My way of mixing Royal Icing might raise some eyebrows, but it's what has worked for me.

A couple of secrets:  I don't mix the meringue powder with water, instead I mix the dry ingredients together with a whisk or fork.

Don't add more than 2/3 cup liquid ~ No agregues más de 2/3 taza de líquidos

I add less water, too. Living in a very humid weather, I like my Royal Icing firm and a bit dry. 

Antonia74 Royal Icing

Mixing Royal Icing for 10 minutes adds a lot of air, and I don't like fighting air bubbles. So I mix on low speed until the ingredients are just mixed, and that's it!

Despues de  preparar,, estirar, cortar y hornear la masa, queremos embellecer nuestras GALLETAS. Existen distintas técnicas para decorar GALLETAS después de hornear, una de ellas es decorar con Glasa Real, a la que yo llamo Royal Icing. Hoy te voy a mostrar como yo preparo Royal Icing.
Creo que cada decorador encuentra lo que le parece mejor, basándose en su experiencia y necesidades. Estoy segura que TU tienes una mejor forma de hacerlo, o la tendrás una vez que empieces a jugar con GALLETAS!

Como muchos otros Decoradores de GALLETAS, comencé a usar la receta de Antonia74 para Royal Icing de CakeCentral. Nunca he tenido problemas con lo dulce de algún alimento, pero descubrí que si agrego extracto sabor cítrico y jugo de limón, corto lo dulce. Me gusta el sabor acidito combinado con la naranja de mi Masa de GALLETAS. Tu puedes jugar y experimentar con los sabores que prefieras.

Look for a firm consistency ~ Busca una consistencia firme

Yo no sigo las instrucciones de Antonia. Tal vez mi forma de hacer el Royal Icing va a levantar cejas, pero es lo que a mi me ha funcionado.
Algunos secretos: No mezclo el Merengue en Polvo con agua, en lugar de eso, lo agrego a los ingredientes secos, y los mezclo con un batidor o un tenedor.

Y le agrego menos agua. Como vivo en un clima bastante húmedo, me gusta el Royal Icing firme y un poco seco.

Cover Royal Icing ~ Tapa bien el Royal Icing

Mezclar el Royal Icing por 10 minutos le agrega mucho aire, y no me gusta pelearme con las burbujitas de aire. Así que lo bato a velocidad baja sólo hasta que los ingredientes apenas se mezclen, y eso es todo!
