2010 easter cookies

I love Easter COOKIES!! They always remind me of fun days spent with my family, and gathering eggs on Easter Sunday...

I got the idea for these Chicks hatching from pink and white preppy eggs from stickers I found at Hallmark...
I sent some to my family in Mexico City and my niece gave some to her classmates...

I saw this Bunny on a Wilton Cake... just skipped the legs... isn't it cute? My Mom thinks it looks like a mouse... well, maybe a little, but he ears are definitely rabbit's ears...

I love the shape of this COOKIE Cutter... I always make some Easter COOKIES with it... this time I used heart shaped sprinkles for the noses...

These were for a Easter themed Baby Shower... love them! I used soft gray for the outlines and loved the effect...

Enjoy your vacations!!
Felices vacaciones!!

noah's ark

I love babies!! We wanted a big family, but 2 of our children are premies (36 and 30 weeks), and I had to stay in bed during my third pregnancy... so the doctors said no more babies for us... Now we have 3 teenagers and I think we have big family... I like number 3... don't you?
I made these COOKIES for a Baby Shower in Chetumal, our state capital... my client wanted the animals in boyish colors (blue, green, yellow and lavender)... I really like white outlines... The Ark COOKIE was for the cake (don't know how the used it) and some decorations... to make it look more real, I'd mark the wood boards of the Ark before icing next time...

i love cookies

I love Love COOKIES! You can add as many details as you wish and they always look pretty... You can use traditional Red/White, or add a little Pink... For inspiration, I use V-Day cards, wrap paper, clipart...

Sometimes I design the COOKIES... which is FUN!!

Other times, I am inspired by other COOKIE - Icing Friends... Maybe it's just a detail they used, or the whole COOKIE is great and you JUST HAVE TO TRY IT!!
You can find great ideas in Blogs, Forums and Flickr... those girls are unstoppable, and they love to share their secrets :D
So this post is dedicated to all of you, my COOKIE friends... Friends from Mexico, US, Canada, Spain, Japan, Europe, Australia... you've taught me more than I could've ever imagined! I've learned more from you, than from paid courses or books!! I really appreciate all your help and patience...
I love you all and hope that we continue to grow together, having fun making beautiful COOKIES!!

away in a manger and pink angels

Every year I make Nativity Scene COOKIES during Christmas... I try to change them a little so that customers find something new... packing is also important, as they are often given as Christmas gifts... I offer 3, 6, 9 and 12 piece sets...

The Three Wise Men are popular for January 6th Epiphany celebration, when children receive gifts brought by them (like Santa's gifts)... that day, families eat Rosca de Reyes (sweet bread) and drink hot chocolate... a plastic baby, symbolizing baby Jesus, is hidden in the bread... who finds him, invites tamales and atole (corn beverage) on February 2nd...

I made these Pink Angels COOKIES for a close friend's grandaughter Baptism...

Belenes y Angelitos Rosa

A huuuuge tag, inspired these Snowmen... I used bright colors just for fun...

No inspiration needed for Holly Leaves and Berries...

My Flickr friend, Myri (T@tit@) inspired this Santa... I added some color to the hat...

This Christmas Tree was inspired on a Card I saw... I just HAD to buy it!! Last year I bought a beautiful platter, so this was a lot cheaper...

cookies + happy events

I've been working on many projects... I love that COOKIES are great for special occasions... and for me, COOKIES mean Happy Events...

My brother's wedding on 11/14... family from all over the country came to Cancun... I had a great time with my aunts, working on crafts and favors for that day...

V's baby boy was born on 11/17... her husband asked for red car COOKIES...

These COOKIES traveled south to Chetumal, across the border from Belice... I loved the colors and F. was really happy with the crosses...

These were made for a 50 Anniversary celebration... the couple renewed vows and they had a big party... I had some problems while icing these COOKIES... I was almost half done with the doodles and numbers when I realized I was writing "25" instead of "50"!!! I had to bake, and ice COOKIES again... the weather was really humid, and the COOKIES were not drying... I liked how the turned out, though...

These Mario Bros. COOKIES were fun!! They were for a big birthday party... some were favors, and other were lollies...

and this week... on the first Posada day, 12/16, my new niece was born... my youngest brother told us they were having another baby on my birth day dinner, last April, so she really means a lot to me... my SIL asked for baby footprints, and my mom and I worked on a Candy project for the hospital, that they both liked...

daisies and happy insects cookies

I received a last minute order for these COOKIES... they were for a Baby Shower, and I put them on sticks... this is the first time I use my happy bumblebee COOKIE cutter, and I just loved making happy bees!!

10.28.2009

cute minnie mouse cookies

I made this COOKIES for a little girl who is turning 2... this cute Minnie comes from a pin I found, all the characters are cute!! The COOKIES flew all the way north to Piedras Negras, Coahuila, across the border from Eagle Pass, Texas...

halloween cookies

When we were children, we loved to Trick or Treat on Halloween... we spent weekends at my grandparent's house, and that night we dressed up and gathered with cousins and friends and sang "Halloween is coming!", "Hooray for Halloween!" and mexican composer, Cri-Cri, song "Las Brujas"...

In Cancun, we took our children to Poktapok, a development with golf course, to Trick or Treat... but they never sang... then we went to TGI Friday's Halloween party for dinner... they seldom ate, as they've munched zillions of candy and treats...

Now that they are older, they go to Halloween parties but still love to dress-up... And we wait for children to come and knock at our door, singing or screaming Trick or Treat!!!

fall is here!

I love to see how seasons change the weather, nature and activities in many places...
In Cancun we can't see leaves turn from green to yellow-orange-brown colors, and the weather is pretty much the same year round...
My children say they would love to live in a place where landscapes change according to seasons... they enjoy summer activities every weekend yet sometimes wish the days get cool... or really cold so the girls would get to wear Ugg boots!
Last year, I fell in love with Bridget's COOKIES, so when F. ordered Fall Leaves for her birthday, I knew I had the chance to try them...

bridal shower tea

Last week I traveled to Mexico City to do some shopping... while there, I attended my future sister in law's bridal shower... the theme was Tea Party, and my brother told me that Annie's favorite color "right now" is orange... so I made this Orange/White Tea Tile COOKIES for her...

MyAunt P. and I had a great time at Annie's niece home... her loving family made delicious food and desserts... they each brought a tea set, and displayed a beautiful buffet with a huge teacup centerpiece with tiny roses... her nieces played tea with a mini set and we all spent a beautiful afternoon together...

8.18.2009

baby bunny cookie bouquet

I made this COOKIE Bouquet for S's family and friends... they came to Cancun and had a Baby Shower for S's SIL or someone else... sorry, I can't remember :)

I took the photos, and while looking at them I realized the base back was facing front... fortunately, I had time to turn it ;)

They chose Bunnies for the invitations and decoration of their Villa... I made white Bunnies with pink borders and pink Bunnies with white borders... I used white non-pareils to make their pompom tails look like cotton...

S. told me they put the jumping Bunnies COOKIE Bouquet on the gift table, and that everyone loved the orange flavored Bunnies!

8.10.2009

baby cookie tiles

Last week I tried my hand with this COOKIE idea I've found all over the web... I made some for Christmas, and started calling them COOKIE Tiles because, as you know, mexicans loooove tiles...
My cousin's cousin was having her baby, so I thought they would be a great gift for the hospital... I was invited to her Baby Shower, but she never felt she should call and inform me she was at the hospital and hasn't called yet... "funny" don't you think?... I gave the COOKIES to someone else...
I don't think I was very happy with the result, loved the colors, and the images... hope they turn out better next time, don't know if I have to use a smaller tip or what... the best part is that we can ice COOKIE Tiles with whatever theme we choose...
You can get ideas from clipart, invitations, coloring books... I copied the images from a Baby Shower napkin I was saving...

direct free kick... goal!

Ok... I tried to load this picture through Flickr... it didn't turn out OK, so I did it the old way :)

I iced these COOKIES for my nephew J's Birthday last month when he turned 12... he is THE BEST Soccer player in the family!! He plays in a local league, and is often invited to play with teams that need a very good player... he's been to Soccer Summer Camps, and was on a Soccer Tour to England with his uncle, brother and cousins this Winter... they had a great time!!

He is my youngest daughter's BFF, too!! They go to the same school, are in the same grade, sometimes in the same classroom, if they're lucky they get to sit together, we car pool everyday, go out on weekends... we love to see them chatting all day, laughing and having a fun... you get the idea...

He is one of my favorite nephews, too...

6.18.2009

little mermaid cookies

I just finished N's Birthday COOKIES... Her mom asked for Mermaids, Sea Horses, Fish and Sea Star COOKIES on a stick... I LOVE the Little Mermaid... isn't she cute with her sea star hairdo?... And her kitsch sea friends, smiling and playing around her?...

I made the Little Mermaid and Sea Horse COOKIE Cutters inspired by clipart from the web... this order was colorful and fun to do! Happy Birthday, N.!!

6.12.2009

pirates of the caribbean cookies

This week, among other orders, I made these Pirates COOKIES for J's Birthday...

The only cutters I had were the Boy, Flag and Sailboat... I looked for ideas, and found great clipart and COOKIES in the web, and also made the Parrot and Chest cutters... the Parrot was inspired by SweetDreamsAT, from Cake Central, she does amazing COOKIES... mine was not perfect as hers ;)

I was very happy with the results, but next time I'll try another chest, as I found it a bit dull... I used colored sugar as gems, but still think something was missing or was wrong...

5.19.2009

like tea?

It's been a loooong time since I published the last post...

Today, I. is having her Birthday Party... it was cancelled because of the influenza, so I bet she is happy to finally have a great time with all her friends...

F., her mom, brought this napkin and asked if I could make her 3 different COOKIES to go with the theme she chose... I had a tiny COOKIE Cutter, so I decided to make new cutters... I included a Flower COOKIE (sorry no photos), they are Lolly COOKIES as they plan to show them off as centerpieces...
